ClearPrep Tutor Framework & Guide
Purpose of the Call
This 15-minute consultation is designed to:
- Build initial trust and rapport
- Learn key information about the student
- Align on goals and expectations
- Ensure the first session is fully set up
- Answer any remaining family questions
This is not a tutoring session, diagnostic deep dive, or strategy presentation. The primary goal is to listen well, ask thoughtful questions, and gain clarity.
Recommended Call Structure (15 Minutes)
1. Warm Introduction (2–3 Minutes)
Begin with:
"My name is <Name>, and I am a tutor with Clear Prep Learning. I hope you had a chance to glance at my bio and get a sense of my background. Today, I'd really love to focus on learning more about your child — their goals, strengths, and how I can best support them."
Then say:
"What I would love to accomplish on this call is to learn a little more about your child, understand your goals, and make sure we're aligned before our first session. I also want to confirm logistics and answer any questions you have."
Keep this concise, warm, and confident.
2. Core Discovery Questions (7–9 Minutes)
All tutors MUST ask these three questions:
"Tell me about your hopes regarding your child's educational journey?"
"What are your goals for tutoring for your child?"
If needed:
- "What would be the primary goal?"
- "Are there any secondary goals?"
"Do you have any concerns about your child's education?"
After asking each question:
- • Pause.
- • Listen fully.
- • Take notes.
- • Ask gentle follow-up questions for clarity.
- • Do not interrupt or jump to solutions.
This is the most important part of the call.
Tutor Mindset: Listen > Talk
This is a listening call.
- • Ask thoughtful follow-up questions.
- • Seek clarity before offering input.
- • Avoid drawing quick conclusions.
- • Avoid dominating the conversation.
- • Do not over-explain your approach unless directly asked.
Families should feel:
- ✓ Heard
- ✓ Understood
- ✓ Supported
- ✓ Confident in next steps
3. Alignment & Next Steps (2–3 Minutes)
Briefly reflect back what you heard:
"It sounds like your main priority is ____, and you're also hoping ____ improves. One concern you've shared is ____."
Then confirm:
- • First session date/time
- • Platform (Zoom/Google Meet)
- • Materials needed
- • Student attendance expectations
Invite final questions:
"Before we wrap up, what other questions can I answer for you?"
Note: Anything about billing, subscription or overall program should be directed to Clear Prep admin. Simply send us a note saying "X" parent was asking about "Y" during our consultation.
